This 701 Original cream painted Singer sewing machine treadle chair not only has the lower frame and wooden pedestals from a 1930's sewing machine but also features a uniquely shaped Singer foot plate set into the back rest. Finished in a subtle oatmeal or antique white paint - it has two sturdy arm rests a full height back and scalloped seat.
The footplate still articulates to drive the flywheel (see photos) and the original wood legs retain their channel-cut risers and sotly flared feet. The high seat height and straight backrest provide good posture when seated.
A distinctive and unique chair built in-house by our furniture maker entirely from salvaged and reclaimed materials.
