Beautiful Reclaimed Hand Carved Stone and Iron Garden Roller

What a beauty - a very early antique carved stone garden roller possibly dating from the 19th century.

A simple construction of a wrought iron frame, riser and handle set about a beautifully timeworn stone roller.

The two holes in the frame would have held two bars supporting a metal blade or scraper to clear the roller of soil and leaf debris as it moved.

Pitted by weather and time, this piece has a wonderful patina and would make a fine centrepiece in any garden display or perhaps could be used to roll the green swathe once more - though it is a little hard to push!
