Dating from the 1980s, this big bright blue and white salvaged coin operated kangaroo and joey children's fun ride is a rare find. The red base is a fibreglass shell over a steel frame and the ride itself is in the form of a caricature marsupial with young in her pouch, a red seat in the crook of her tail and handle-bars on her back. The ride is mounted by using first the tread plates on the base and then the foot plates on either side of the kangaroo. To one side is a tapered metal post housing the coin slot with a '20p' price plate. Following decades of thrilling young riders, the fibreglass body has small areas of wear, but these can be restored. Much of the original paint and all of the original features have survived including the big flat feet, huge curved tail and smiley faces! Sold as seen, this animatronic has not been tested and is sold as a display piece only. There is a mechanism present and the kangaroo can be moved on its pivot. Generally the ride appears intact so it may be possible to restore it? The base cover has a split to the front upper surface (see photos). A great piece of children's entertainment for the home, retail interior or collector.
