Enjoy the warmth and inimitable character of authentic handmade Victorian English bricks at a price that will make you smile…
We can now reveal that Warehouse701 have recently reclaimed more than half-a-million beautiful handmade bricks all from a single source; the historic Queens Market in the town of Rhyl in North Wales. These original 3” bricks have a wonderful spectrum of colour and texture for that quintessential period look. Ideal for multiple whole house builds, heritage inspired extensions, garden walls and amazing interior features such as fireplaces and brick floors.
Every brick has been painstakingly cleaned by hand, removing virtually all traces of the period lime mortar. The bricks are currently stacked in protective spiral patterns on pallets and wrapped. Each pallet contains 400 bricks. Inevitably these bricks are irregular in colour, shape and form which is what makes them so desirable. Georgian and Victorian handmade bricks were typically laid with 15-20mm of mortar to accommodate the individuality of the bricks as opposed to 10mm used for many modern bricks.
You’re welcome to purchase as many (or as few) as you wish. For general reference, a typical pallet of bricks weighs 1.5 tons (each brick weighs approximately 3.5kg) and an articulated flat-bed lorry can transport up to eighteen pallets. The photos show the bricks laid out in both stretcher bond (a traditional wall pattern) and herringbone (popular for floors and interior features). We’ve included an artist’s impression of how the bricks might look when laid using a traditional lime mortar.
