At the apex of design and ingenuity is this rare and elegant reclaimed cast iron garden bench by W Turner of Newtown. The graceful wishbone leg and single serpentine riser incorporate wide fixing plates that remove the need for stretcher bars or braces - thus simplifying the design to the absolute minimum. At over seven feet long it has only four components - including a large single broad plank for the seat and a single board backrest. The makers name and place of manufacture are cast into both legs. Whilst the seat is currently load bearing (see photos!) it is very weathered and would likely benefit from a replacement board in time.
