The quintessential Great British park bench - with long slender wood slats and gently scrolling metalwork. This lovely old long wrought iron park or garden bench is in lovely condition if you ignore the lichen and crusty bird poo! (yes, I did lie on it for the photos!) It’s hard to imagine a more typical bench for that shady spot in the garden. It’s light enough to be carried inside for the winter yet strong enough to seat four persons. Though styled on a Victorian piece, this is likely from the 2nd half of the 20th century with spot welded stays and simple steel braces. It has a relatively high seat for a good upright posture - and so children can swing their legs!
