Original Herefordshire Hop-Pickers Iron Devil or Brazier
Code: to be advised
Qty Available: 1
An original late 19th or early 20th century wrought-iron hop-pickers brazier known locally in Herefordshire as a ‘devil’. The pitted iron finish, forged-iron rivets and strong iron legs combine in this authentic period piece of living history. Amazingly, it still has its five moveable hooks in ascending and descending height to enable foods, pots and kettles to be hung further or closer to the hot coals in the basket below. The main basket is aged but not worn with ‘V’ shaped grate bars to disperse ash and clinker. The caged sides of the basket allow the fire to breath whilst radiating heat to all who gathered around it. A wonderful piece that would make a great display item, film prop or serve as a working brazier.
