Old Cast Iron Road Sign for Folly Lane, Hereford, Herefordshire

This old cast iron road sign, in 'original' condition, is a great piece of local and social history. Folly Lane was historically Folly Road in the east of the city, north of the river Wye. The heritage of Hereford is told through wonderful old street furniture such as this. Its relief lettering (not forgetting the full stop!) and detailed corners make this a fine example - though it has no fixing holes so may have been set into a wall or the side of a building?

The sign and its lettering are intact and beautifully time-worn with a unique and unmistakable patina.
