Reclaimed Hand Carved Farm Building Staddle Stone

An original Herefordshire agricultural staddle stone hand carved from limestone. Historically barns and grain stores would be constructed on top of these substantial plinths allowing air to circulate beneath to keep produce dry whilst keeping vermin out who would be foiled by the overhanging top. Also known as stathels or 'mushrooms', they're both practical and beautiful and make a great rustic feature or focal point in the garden.
