A pair of Reclaimed Red Cast Iron Brackets or Spindle / Axle Mounts

Some may consider it crazy to call rusty lumps of iron ‘beautiful’ but so says the eye of the beholder!

These heavy-weight industrial mounts (possibly early 20^th century?) have the most amazing patina. The old red paint is faded and worn and the iron surface has pitted with age. Whatever they did and whatever they supported – it was substantial. These 90 degree brackets have a rugged three-point base with large fixing holes (likely to receive bolts?) plus a huge main fillet and the hole that (supposedly) held either end of a shaft or axle is surrounded by a thick box section.

Could be re-used as supports for a beam etc. though we do not know their load rating?

Perhaps we’ve discovered the world’s largest book-ends…or door stops?
