Salvaged Large Wooden Architectural Finial or Spike

A beautiful large time-worn timber finial with an elongated spike, a spherical body and circular stepped base. It appears to be hand carved rather than turned and likely came off a grand porch, canopy or gable.

It's very, very old and has achieved the most amazing 'driftwood' finish. This authentic vintage finial has dried, cracked and split from years of weathering and the base in particular is a little fragile. Nevertheless it would make a great rustic feature in the home - set alone as a conversation piece or curio.
