Salvaged Edwardian Style Black Cast Iron Corniced Fire Surround
Code: W701-1048
Qty Available: 1
A substantial blacked cast-iron fire surround with a deep corniced mantle, stepped architraving and a framed opening.
The formal styling is late Edwardian (1920s) with a simpler easthetic than its Victorian counterparts and typical of the thinner proportions found toward the end of the period. The deep mantle shelf is designed to accommodate a substantial mantle clock and ornamenture.
Sadly the two right-hand fixing lugs are missing which is not uncommon and, as these surrounds are partially set into the wall plaster (see photos), new hidden fixings could be deployed. A stylish surround that would suit the reception rooms of an early 20th century home or add period charm to a shop window or tea-room display.
Size of opening: 89cm (wide) x 96cm (high).
