A fine piece of railwayana in the form of an original cast iron sign warning of a 40/- (forty shillings = £2) fine or a month in prison for every such offence! Note how the sign refers to 'himself' only and not to ladies!

The plate has four (corner) countersunk fixing holes and a single raised edge. All of the lettering is raised and cast into the plate. The full inscription reads:

"...GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY - NOTICE - All persons are warned not to trespass upon the railways or stations of the company and notice is hereby given that pursuant to the provisions of the company's acts every person who trespasses upon any such railway or station in such manner as to expose himself to danger or risk of danger renders himself liable to a penalty of forty shillings and in default of payment to one month's imprisonment for every such offence   BY ORDER..."
