Salvaged Cast Iron Dog Grate with Helical Andirons

A pleasing example of a mid to late 20th century fire grate with attractive spiral or helical andirons topped with stylised fleur-de-lys finials and wishbone feet. The body of the grate is deeply dished which, together with the raised log-spikes around the collar, provide a sizeable capacity.

The fire basket is made from good thick steel section as are the spikes - ensuring a long life and resistance to corrosion  and distortion. All in all a good quality, decorative fore basket and 'dogs' to keep you warm this winter!
