Salvaged Ex-Lloyds Bank Mahogany Locking Drawer Unit
Code: 131
SOLD
A period chest of eight drawers that was formally a Lloyds bank mahogany locking drawer unit. Now refurbished here at Warehouse701 including the addition of a beautifully figured spalted-beech top and four elegant block feet. Inside one of the drawers remnants of old bottled ink stain the wood and some partial ink stamps remain including ‘Lloyds Bank Hereford’ and the date 1968 - though this cabinet likely predates this by some considerable margin. This stylish chest of drawers has also been cleaned and waxed to a deep rich finish. All eight original cast bronze pull handles are present - these have been carefully buffed without erasing the history . A quality made cabinet of robust construction with the dovetail jointed drawers. There are two hinged oak strips (one on each front corner) that swing closed and can be locked to secure the drawers (though sadly no key accompanies it). The rear is made from slatted pine. A solid piece with a unique local history, now an elegant item of furniture that would grace any home study, office, shop or restaurant
