Striking Yellow Painted Antique Cast Iron Cambrian Tractor Seat
Code: W701-1043
SOLD
An authentic antique cast iron agricultural tractor or implement seat with a lovely rounded shape, stylish radial piercings and the raised name 'Cambrian' together with the numbers '148'.
The striking 'Canary Yellow' paint is unlikely to be original but is a great choice for this highly collectable piece of farming history. The notched circular ring underneath allowed the seat to be 'locked' at various angles as operators were often seated off-centre to the machine.
The slots allowed air to circulate whilst rain, frost and snow would quickly dissipate, keeping the operators derrière dry. Long working days meant the stylish design alone did not provide sufficient comfort and although the seats were usually mounted on a leaf-spring arm, many an operator would add a folded coat or straw-stuffed sack!
A highly collectable piece of British farming history now popular for display or repurposing.
