A reclaimed Herefordshire farmyard limestone staddle stone. Entirely hand carved and featuring unusual markings - whether intentional or accidental? These mushroom shaped plinths were a common sight on most period farms where barns and grain stores would be built on top of these substantial stones allowing air to circulate beneath whilst keeping the vermin out. Sometimes called stathels, these two piece stone mushrooms are both practical and beautiful - adding instant rustic charm to your home.
