A delightful vintage honey pine Ray & Miles chest of drawers with five drawers, a raised back and turned bun feet. The pine knobs are a nice feature as is the finely contoured edge to the twin plank pine top. Each drawer has a bright brass key escutcheon though sadly there is no key. One of the drawers contains a fixed oval plaque inscribed ‘Ray & Miles - Cabinet Makers & Upholsterers - Liverpool’. This company were makers of fine furniture from the late Victorian period and were acquired by ‘Maples’ in 1959. The chest has been recently re-waxed and the top, which had split with age, has been perfectly re-set. There is a little movement in the carcass which is not uncommon in a piece of this age. A pretty and practical addition to the hall, landing or bedroom with ample space for linens, clothing and a whole lot more.
