Vintage Tambour or Roller Shutter Front Lebus Cabinet with Scalloped Drawers
Code: W40A176
SOLD
Likely dating to the early 20th century, this Lebus Cabinet is a delight! Originally from the factory of Louis Lebus, a Jewish immigrant who had been heading for America, stopped over in England and never left. Manufacturers of quality hand built furniture - at one point being the largest furniture factory in the world!
This is an upright multi-drawer oak cabinet for documents and paperwork with a tambour (roller shutter) front that folds into the cabinet out of sight. There is an escutcheon marked 'The Lebus Cabinet' with a recessed hand hold to either side. The shutter moves with ease and retracts fully.
There are 16 drawers in all - each with a brass card insert with integral pull handle to the front and a scalloped side allowing paperwork to be grasped more easily as the drawer is opened.
The Cabinet has been cleaned and waxed and will make a splendid addition to your study, home office or shop interior.
