An authentic antique iron tractor or agricultural implement seat with pierced lettering depicting the maker's name and finished in a striking red and black colour scheme. The aerated pattern allowed air to circulate and rain, snow and ice to dissipate. Seats were often mounted on a long spring (or sprung) steel arm and operators would cover them with sackcloth for comfort.

Though not the original paint, tractors were painted in ever bolder colours to advertise which implements farmers were purchasing. It wasn't always possible to discern the make of machine from a distance in the field but a bright green, red or yellow paintwork left little doubt.

The Blackstone family name is synonymous with the development of agricultural implements in Lincolnshire and beyond from 1889 to the early 1930s. The seat bears the word Blackstone and the name Stamford, an historic town in Lincolnshire where the company was based.
