This authentic cast iron George V post box is a rare and highly collectable "Hovis" top model, so named for its distinctive overhanging, loaf-shaped top designed to prevent rainwater from entering the aperture. Cast between 1933 and 1935, this LB210 pole-mounted box features the prominent GR royal cipher on the short door. The box is finished in classic postal red and retains a wonderful sense of history, complete with its original collection time plate for "Cross Lyde, Garway Hill".

Unlike many salvaged examples, this box remains in remarkably complete condition, still housing its original internal wire mail cage. It is accompanied by its correct working keys, ensuring the locking mechanism is fully functional. The exterior shows an honest, weathered patina with some surface oxidation and paint wear, preserving its industrial character. This is a superb find for a serious enthusiast of postal history or a unique architectural feature for a private residence.
