This table has just SOLD - but we're currently building another similar table from the remaining large piece of Cedar wood that will be equally impressive...please ask for details...
One of only a handful of true statement pieces created each year, in-house, by our resident master furniture maker. This impressive and unique large cast iron and cedar table is entirely hand built and brings together the finest timber and elements of British industrial heritage in one sublime piece. The feature top is a single piece of Cedar of Lebanon ‘heart-wood’ almost eight feet long and two-and-a-half inches thick. The two curved wishbone iron supports date from around 1850, made by the ironfounders S A & H Kell of Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye. These support the table with the aid of two full length galvanised steel rods and a pair of shaped ash wood braces fixed with stainless steel bolts and resting on two chamfered oak feet. The eye and hand of the craftsman have fused this rare and exotic wood with historical ironwork to create a piece with formidable design and immense charm. The cedar top has been finished with three coats of lacquer and a high grade microporous water-repellent ‘food-safe’ oil.
This beautiful and unique table is a 701 original - designed and crafted in house from salvaged and reclaimed materials. Discover more here.
