Made by the British Joseph Hampton Co. at the Woden Works in Wednesbury. This likely 1930s Cast iron bottle jack has a steel screw to raise and lower it. The jack carries scars commensurate with its age and use but has a lovely patina. Famous for making quality Nuts and bolts, Cramps, clamps, vices and jacks, Hamptons also had a foundry department making decorative machine bases, manhole covers, pipe cutters, polishing machines and parts for cast iron fires etc. Such jacks were often sold without a bar.
